History Of Mr. Julius Abel
Mr. Julius Abel was born October 5, 1905 to the late Rev. Daniel Abel and Ada Decent Abel in Ocilla, Irwin County, Georgia. He departed this life July 27, 1997 at the Irwin county Hospital.
he joined the poplar Spring Freewill Baptist Church at an early age under the pastorate of his late father. years later he became a member of the Ocilla Freewill Baptisit Church.
He was educated at the Freewill Baptist College located in Northeast Ocilla, Georgia. Upon complection of his education, he traveled to Tennessee and Flordia pursuing job opportunities and a career.
When he returned to Ocilla he married Easter Mae Hollingsworth December 26, 1926. They were parents of three sons, two which survive.
After his marriage he was employed by the Ocilla Grocery Company. He also became associated with the Carles O. Lewis Funeral Home. Upon his death of Mr Lewis he established the Abel Funeral Home and located it on East Seventh Street in a building that had been the house of the First Black Doctor in Ocilla..Which is the picture above.
